About

The Southern Nevada Community Band, formerly known as the Vegas Valley Legacy Concert Band, was chartered in 2002 as a vibrant non-profit organization, proudly dubbed “Southern Nevada’s Own Community Band.” The band has entertained diverse audiences across Southern Nevada, performing for esteemed groups such as the Coast Guard Reserve, American Legion, The Eagles, the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, as well as various community centers, retirement homes, government and civic organizations, hospitals, and schools.

In the early years, the band comprised two distinct ensembles. The larger concert band showcased a wide array of music, from the classics of Bach, Beethoven, and Tchaikovsky to the lively marches of Sousa, alongside Broadway hits and today’s pop favorites. The second ensemble, the 17-piece Legacy Swing Band, was a dynamic jazz group that brought the joy of music to dances, parties, special events, and concerts. With something for everyone, The Legacy Swing Ensemble catered to all musical tastes and age groups.

In 2023, after a three-year break from making music due to the pandemic, we were thrilled to announce our return, rebranding as the Southern Nevada Community Band!

Our members hail from a rich tapestry of backgrounds, including professions such as teachers, casino workers, salespeople, healthcare professionals, architectural engineers, and even professional musicians.
